How to cancel your CenturyLink service

If you’re thinking about closing your account or removing some services, please review all the options beforehand. Many customers find that fixing or changing something on their account is a better option than canceling their services.

Want to lower your bill?

If you want to cancel your service because your bill is too high, we may be able to help. We offer bundled discounts and long-term pricing so you don't have to worry about rate increases. We also may be able to find a better promotion or rate for your services. Just contact us and we will explain your options.

Moving to a new home?

Instead of canceling your service and setting up a new account, transfer your existing service to your new home. It's a lot easier and quicker than setting up everything from scratch.

365体育投注网站You don't have to put down a new deposit, set up another My CenturyLink profile, or re-enroll in AutoPay. Plus, it's a great time to ask what new specials, promotions, and discounts are available.

Going away for a period of time?

If you're going to be away for an extended period of time, you can temporarily suspend your account rather than completely canceling your service. This puts your phone, internet and/or television service on hold until you're ready to use them again, which is a lot easier than canceling and re-installing. You also typically pay a reduced rate for services that are on hold, and in most cases, you won't pay to turn them back on.

Other advantages:

  • Your telephone number is reserved
  • You can keep and use your email address
  • You don't have to return your equipment and can keep it in your home
  • Your saved DVR content remains undisturbed and ready for your return

Special notes related to canceling services

Removing services or canceling your account may raise a few questions as to how to handle bundled services, deposits, and AutoPay.
  • Bundles – If some, or all, of your services are part of a bundle and you cancel one (or more) services, it may alter your bundle discounts.
  • Deposits – If you were required to make a deposit when you set up your CenturyLink service, your deposit and any interest will be applied to your final balance. We'll send you a closing bill showing the status of your account. If there's a credit, we'll mail you a check with your bill. To update your mailing address,  or contact us. If there's a balance, you'll see the amount that still needs to be paid.
  • AutoPay – If you use AutoPay, learn how canceling your CenturyLink service affects your automatic payments.
